Uncut Attire:
Zero Waste & Natural Dyes

This garment's silhouette is achieved through tucks, gathers, and darts; not a single cut was made into the fabric. The belt and collar of the dress were crafted from tearing two strips off the original length of fabric while the rest was draped into the body of the dress. The cotton voile fabric was first eco-printed with various leaves and petals then dyed with onion peels and overdyed with madder to create a fall orange. Hand embroidery is used to emphasize the eco-printing leaves and accent the waist. This dress is zero-waste and inspired by the Uncut Attire: How Weaving Informs Wearables exhibit that was shown in the Lynn Mecklenburg Textile Gallery in September of 2022.
