Turning Tradition on its Hem

Allie's Dress, 2025

Heirloom Wedding Gown Redesigned for Bridal Shower & Rehearsal Dinner

Brought in by the client, this gown was originally her mother’s wedding dress and carried decades of volume, structure, and sentiment. The goal of the redesign was to transform the piece into something fun, flirty, and unapologetically playful — a short bubble-skirt silhouette designed for bridal showers and potentially a rehearsal dinner.

The original train was removed and the gown was taken in significantly to better fit the bride. The fullness of the skirt was gathered and turned up toward the waist to achieve the desired length, then structured with crinoline to create a soft, sculptural poof. To balance the new silhouette, the sleeves were also adjusted, reducing volume while maintaining the character of the original design.

The finished dress is a bold reinterpretation made for celebrating the moments leading up to the wedding day.
